What are Scouts?

The Scouts section is where young people aged 11 to 15 learn life skills and Scouting values in a safe, fun, and youth-driven environment. Patrol-based activities form the core, with members taking real responsibility for planning and leading.

Scouts follow the Plan, Do, Review model — they propose activities, organise them with their patrol, and reflect on what they learned. This builds genuine leadership skills.

  • Patrol-based system with real youth leadership
  • Camping, hiking, canoeing, and outdoor adventures
  • Abseiling, pioneering, and survival skills
  • Community service projects
  • Geocaching, orienteering, and bushcraft

Jamboree & Awards

Every three years, Scouts attend the Australian Scout Jamboree — a 10-day event hosting thousands of Scouts in a purpose-built tent city, complete with its own newspaper and radio station. It's a life-changing experience.

The peak achievement is the Australian Scout Award, recognised by universities for entry purposes and a testament to dedication, leadership, and community service.

  • Australian Scout Jamboree (triennial)
  • Australian Scout Award (peak — recognised for uni entry)
  • Milestone badges and special interest awards
  • State and national competitions
